Senior Materials Controller

Job Description

WorleyParsons are looking to recruit a Senior Materials Controller on a contract basis for 12 months. This role will initially be based within our Stockton office, progressing to rotational work in Lagos, Nigeria on a 8/2 rotation.

Role Overview

  • Assist in the maintenance and operation of a materials control system for the site and ensure adherence to relevant company and project policies and procedures.
  • Using relevant systems, provide continuous control of all materials and equipment from receipt at the site to final installed location within the facility
  • Ensure safeguarding, preservation and maintenance of materials and equipment during possession and/or management by the company.
  • Determine and report in PAMMS overages, shortages, non-conforming and damaged materials and equipment.
  • Develop and implement plans to remedy discrepancies and negative impacts caused by these anomalies. Liaise with the project procurement team to report deliveries and any discrepancies.
  • Identify surplus material and process its movement through the disposal and scrap process.
  • Liaise with expediting and logistics coordination in the safe and timely delivery of the equipment and materials to site.
  • Assist purchasing and logistics in identifying, segregating and issuing commissioning and first issue spares stocks.
  • Perform or assist in periodic audits of stores, warehouse, tool cribs and free issue stocks as required by company procedure or customer.

Objectives

  • Ensure all Project / Company HSEQ goals are achieved and where possible exceeded.
  • Effective liaison with any Client and / or Sub-Contractor / Vendor representatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, supervise and support day-to-day material management activities in the safe and structured delivery of the work scope and processes, ensuring all applicable site / Project safety procedures are fully and property implemented.
  • Ensure all materials support personnel are competent and possess the required skills - liaise with the Project Safety Representatives to ensure that all personnel have been adequately trained.
  • Actively participate in all Company and Project safety initiatives.
  • Responsible to the Construction Manager for providing the assurance through technical audit that materials and equipment are in compliance with the UK Statutory Regulations, the Clients Standards and procedures, and where applicable, the Worley Parsons Corporate standards.
  • Liaise with Construction Engineers to identify Site Queries.
  • Assist in the maintenance and operation of a materials control system for the site and ensure adherence to relevant company and project policies and procedures.

  • Produce weekly skyline material reports utilizing the Worley Parsons IDM systems (PAMMS / SCRAM / JMS) to determine material availability, quantities and locations.
  • Ensure safeguarding, preservation and maintenance of materials and equipment during possession and/or management by the company.
  • Determine and report in SPM overages, shortages, non-conforming and damaged materials and equipment.
  • Develop and implement plans to remedy discrepancies and negative impacts caused by these anomalies. Liaise with the project procurement team to report deliveries and any discrepancies.

Qualifications

Essential:

  • Recognised O&G discipline background.
  • Knowledge of the Worley Parsons Procurement and Materials Management (PAMMS) systems
  • Knowledge of Worley Parsons Supply Chain Resource Allocation Module (SCRAM) system
  • Knowledge of the Worley Parsons Job Card Management (JMS) system
  • IT Literate (Excel / Word / Powerpoint etc).

Desirable:

  • Member of CIPS (MCIPS)

Experience

Essential:

  • Materials control background in the oil and gas industry, preferably offshore
  • Wide range experience of large scale, overseas EPC projects with customer facing focus
  • Thorough knowledge of materials commodities, material types, grades and specifications
  • Thorough understanding of purchase order requirements, delivery terms, shipping, transportation and logistics
  • Able to develop material control strategies and procedures

Competencies

  • Able to demonstrate high level understanding of HSEQ safe working practices / procedures and their implementation - particularly regarding Lifting and Rigging operations.
  • Able to demonstrate effective and efficient leadership of personnel and resources.
  • Able to react to changing deadlines and achieve Project goals / milestones.
  • Able to manage / maintain schedule requirements.
  • Deal with Client / Vendor representatives in a professional manner.
  • Possesses extensive trade and industry knowledge.
  • Able to work as part of an integrated team.

Technical:

  • Knowledgeable of technical standards and codes
  • Able to read and understand procedures, specifications and drawings
  • Able to demonstrate a high standard in execution and completion of assigned tasks.
  • Able to deliver Project workscopes to the required / specified Project / industry standards.
  • Able to produce technical documents and procedures covering all aspects of the Construction process.
  • IT Literate in all major software packages (Word / Excel / PowerPoint etc).
