Job Description

Primat Recruitment are looking for a Senior Design Draughtsperson, on a permanent basis, to join one of the market specialists who provide innovative and integrated solutions for any hydraulic, mechanical and electrical need.

As a Senior Design Draughtsperson, you will join a busy engineering team and will be responsible for the accurate design and drafting of both concept drawings for tendering through to new designs for client projects. You will also act as a mentor to develop the skills of junior members of the team.

  • Assisting the Engineering team with projects requiring 3D modelling and 2D drafting.
  • Working closely with the engineers to design new build equipment, ensuring this equipment is designed following the company's procedures and to the functional specification.
  • Create concept drawings to assist with tendering.
  • Working with the Engineering team to produce P&ID, Hydraulic and Electrical schematics in AutoCAD.
  • Ensure all drawings are numbered and recorded as per company procedures.
  • Produce 2D drawing packages for the fabrication/machining/assembly of new equipment.
  • Create 3D as-built models of existing and new equipment, and produce General Arrangement drawing packages with fully populated bill of materials.
  • Liaising with suppliers to source suitable 3D models and quoting of fabricated/machined parts.
  • Develop junior members of the draughting team.
  • Reviewing drawings produced by other members of the engineering team.

Essential:

  • HNC or HND qualification in an engineering discipline (mechanical preferred).
  • Experience of hydraulic and mechanical equipment and systems.
  • Highly competent in Autodesk Inventor, Vault and AutoCAD.
  • Highly experienced in designing industrial equipment.
  • Highly experienced in producing detailed fabrication, machining and as-built drawings.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage own workload effectively in order to meet deadlines as is necessary.
  • Communicates effectively with internal and external contacts in a professional manner. Works effectively within a team or other work group as appropriate.

Preferred:

  • Previous experience working with hydraulic and mechanical oilfield equipment.
  • Experience of hydraulic and mechanical systems, including: Diesel and Electric Hydraulic Power Units, Umbilical Reelers, Pump Packages.
  • Competent in using Inventor Frame Generator.
  • Understanding of UK industry standards associated with company work scopes.
  • Knowledge of DNV 2.7-1 and 2.7-3 standards and the ATEX directive.
