Job Description

AFW Oil & Gas UK requires the services of a Senior Decommissioning Operations Support Engineer for a period of 6 month in Aberdeen. The opportunity requires extensive experience in the oil and gas petrochemical industry both on and offshore ideally in the East Irish Sea.

Workscope

Play an active part of Topside Delivery Team with the collective aim of delivering the DSC and RSC contracts on time and on budget with no injuries or incidents. Responsible for providing topside engineering support to the decommissioning project and to act as the primary Offshore Operations Engineer during the offshore execution phase.

Detailed Services to be provided

  • Take a key role in promoting continuous improvement with contractors and manage project scope inline with WBS, Baseline scope and Centrica corporate governance.
  • Coordinate the activities of offshore contractors, vendors and specialists and set their priorities and objectives prior to offshore visits. Liaise with such parties regarding technical issues.
  • Monitor & pro-actively manage project risk in-line with risk register.
  • Coordinate the activities of DSC/RSC contractors and subcontractors and set their priorities and objectives prior to offshore visits. Liaise with such parties regarding technical issues.
  • Safety leadership both onshore and offshore. Adherence to COMPANY safety standards, Life Saving Rules, OFFICEWISE and SITEWISE safety guidance. Supporting others and intervening as necessary to ensure a safe workplace and compliance with COMPANY expectations.
  • Reviewing and providing detailed operations input and experience to decommissioning related documentation, strategies and work instructions.
  • Developing and/or providing key input to decommissioning offshore operating / isolating / cleaning / flushing / draining / venting procedures.
  • Acting as focal point for liaison with existing onshore and offshore operations personnel
    to seek historical and current information and status for facility operation and processes.
    to communicate decommissioning project strategies and plans.
  • Advice and feedback other project team members, contractors and third parties on operational issues impacting on or impacted by decommissioning activities.
  • Supporting and advising on safe systems of work for offshore execution, control of worksites and management of Simultaneous Operations (SIMOPS) in the field and on the facility.
  • Attend project meetings and workshops to provide operations input as required for HAZOPs, HAZIDS, SIMOPS reviews, Lessons Learned reviews etc.
  • Support / provide pre-mobilisation team meetings and scope inductions for team members, contractors and third parties.


Demonstrable Experience

  • Has worked in a senior offshore operations supervisory role i.e. Offshore Installation Manager
  • Has working knowledge of offshore oil & gas process plant, utilities systems and safety systems operation, shutdown, start up and isolation standards.
  • Has working knowledge of safe systems of work and control of work sites.
  • Has working knowledge of environmental sensitivities and reporting requirements associated with working in the offshore oil and gas industry (Production Operations Notices etc)
  • Understands logistical, marine and aviation issues associated with working in an offshore environment (experience in the East Irish Sea is advantageous).
  • Understands the issues associated with operating late life offshore oil & gas facilities, asset integrity, process system integrity, valve operation and application of isolations, safety system integrity, power and communications systems reliability and maintenance of obsolete systems.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential

  • Degree in an Engineering Discipline or Project / Oil and Gas Enterprise Management
  • Demonstrate behaviours likely to be conducive to building strong bonds with offshore employees.
  • Must be able to priorities' multiple work fronts and meet schedules.

Preferred

  • Professional accreditation with a professional body i.e. IMech, APM or PMI
  • ISSOW PA Level 1
  • OPITO BOSIET + Universal Survival + MIST + Medicals
  • Understand Health & Safety at Work Act 1974
