Job Description

The Reliability Engineer actively contributes to maximising production uptime for their assigned asset(s). This involves liaising with the asset's engineering and operation teams to identify production vulnerabilities and losses and develop cost-effective improvement actions. You will drive reliability improvement strategies and build capability in the asset to proactively eliminate defects, through coaching and mentoring. Using your expert knowledge of the asset's vulnerabilities and equipment health you will influence maintenance execution decisions and work scopes. You will act as the asset's subject matter export for defect investigations, 5 Whys and RCFAs, and drive investigations to identify root cause.

RESPONSIBILITES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Facilitate and act as subject matter expert for defect investigations for significant production deferrals, vulnerabilities and plant trips, and ensure the quality of the output.
  • Identify the asset's top production losses and production vulnerabilities, and support the development of cost-effective reliability improvement actions.
  • Influence maintenance strategy and scheduling through expert knowledge of the asset's vulnerabilities and equipment health.
  • Facilitate interactions between condition monitoring vendors and asset engineers to ensure the timely resolution of CM advisories.
  • Lead maintenance and reliability assessments such as RCM studies, Weibull Analysis, and WMS data analysis to assist with identification of opportunities in equipment reliability and management systems, as well as assist the asset in developing improvement programs.
  • Analyse maintenance and reliability metrics and other data to identify opportunities to improve equipment and ultimately improve asset production uptime.
  • Build capability within the assets team to proactively eliminate defects, through coaching and mentoring.

Experience

Essential

  • Experienced in the use of reliability tools such as Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM), and Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), RAM Modelling, Root Cause Failure Analysis and calculation of equipment reliability/availability (MTBF/MTTR)
  • Experienced in leading investigation teams and influencing/working with others across the organisation, including third party contractors.
  • Operations support or technical engineering discipline experience in an oil and gas processing plant.
  • Good knowledge of Work Management Systems.
  • Knowledge of maintenance strategies, equipment failure modes and predictive maintenance.

Desirable

  • A combination of both practical and theoretical engineering experience.
  • Knowledge of Reliability tools such as Isograph Availability Workbench, SKF Aptitude, GE System 1 and production loss reporting software.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Degree qualified in an engineering discipline or Reliability / Defect Elimination related experience.
  • Able to demonstrate continuing personal and professional development.
