Job Description

Primat recruitment is seeking a Quantity Surveyor to join a large international team in Stockton-On-Tees. Our client is expanding its minerals business internationally. The company provides engineering and construction services to the minerals industry, specifically focusing on continental & eastern Europe, Scandinavia, Africa and Russia.

This position is office based and is supporting the design of a project taking place in the North East. Design responsibilities are split between a location in Teesside and a location in India, so frequent liaising between the teams will be part of your role.

* Ensure subcontracts are administered strictly in accordance with agreed terms and conditions and authorities, and reporting any issues arising to the Senior Quantity Surveyor in a timely manner.
* Assisting in the preparation of tender documentation including bills of quantities.
* Assisting with commercial bid evaluations and participation in negotiations, including pre-commencement tender clarification meetings.
* Arranging and participation in kick-off and weekly progress meetings including preparation of minutes of meeting.
* Preparing monthly cashflow forecasts.
* Attend and input into progress meetings, providing commercial advice where required.
* Management of variation account, including analysis and negotiation of changes.
* Ensure that any relevant issues affecting Subcontract packages are proactively managed with under the requirements of the Main Contract.
* Undertake remeasures off drawings and/ or on site as required to establish accurate forecasting and reporting on productivity.
* Ensure focus on the Main Contract schedule and ensure options to achieve or better programme dates are explored and implemented where possible.
* Reviewing and agreeing monthly payment applications and final accounts.
* Communicate with all relevant parties to ensure consistency of understanding and approach.
* Review and analysis of claims for additional payment, extensions of time and delay and disruption.
* Ensuring that change registers and cost reports are maintained in preparation of monthly cost reports.
* Drafting contractual correspondence.
* Maintaining subcontract commercial files and cost records including Prolog administration.
* Other commercial and contractual activities as determined from time to time by the Senior Quantity Surveyor.

* Experience of working on large civil engineering / infrastructure projects, including underground structures, foundations, piling and structural steelwork.
* Degree qualified / MRICS.
* Teamworking.
* Pro-active approach to dispute avoidance.

* Negotiation.
* Self-starter.
* Attention to detail and maintaining deadlines.
* Excellent relationship building and interpersonal skills.
