Job Description

Primat is seeking a Principal Consultant with expertise in the fields of Decommissioning and Restoration to join our client, a large consulting organisation operating globally.

Our client is an independent consulting business with over 3000 people spread across 19 countries. They currently provide solutions for clients in the Infrastructure, Hydrocarbons, Minerals & Metals and Chemical sectors. This vacancy is for a Principal consultant to work on Brownfield assessment and remediation projects based in our clients Leeds Office. This is a full time, permanent position and will be a part of our clients Restoration and Decommissioning practice. As the successful Principal Consultant you will work with the organisations clients bringing technical know-how to the successful delivery of projects whilst working closely with the existing Technical Director in Leeds and other UK locations.

Core responsibilities will include the following:

- Management and delivery of contaminated land assessment and remediation projects including: delivery of desk studies, site investigation, risk assessments, remediation options appraisals, remedial design and verification.

- Data management: review and interpretation.

- Delivery of detailed quantitative risk assessments including controlled waters and/or human health.

- Ensuring high technical quality across the project team.

- Business development and winning work (with support) including prospect identification and proposal generation.

- Line manage, mentor and train junior staff.

- Liaise with and support key clients.

- Embrace the HSSE culture of a project, both client-facing and internally.
- Compliance with Health and Safety policies and procedures.

The following skills and experience will be required:

- Experience of contaminated land assessment and remediation of sites in the UK.

- Business development and client management skills.

- Strong experience in presenting, analysing and interpreting data.

- Post graduate qualifications in a relevant subject (e.g. Hydro-Geology, Geochemistry, Geology or Environmental Science).

- Evidence of continuing professional development, including Chartership desirable (or working toward this).

- Ability to build effective working relationships with clients, colleagues and contractors.

- Excellent oral and written communication skills.

- Ability to write clear, concise reports and think logically and clearly.

- Demonstrable project and contract management experience.

- Familiarity and experienced with several forms of contract including NEC3 desirable.

- Contaminated land assessment and remediation, demolition and engineering project execution.

- Subject matter expertise.
