Job Description

WorleyParsons are looking to recruit a Planning Engineer on a contract basis for a duration of 6 months. This will be initially based within our Stockton office, progressing to rotational work in Lagos, Nigeria on an 8/2 rotation.

Role

  • To be responsible for the development, maintenance and monitoring of schedule and associated documents.
  • Prepare and maintain schedule for either a arge sized project or a large sized sub-element of a major project.

Objectives

  • Assist in the establishment and maintenance of the project planning system and procedures.
  • Delivery of appropriately detailed robust schedule for either a medium to large sized project or a medium to large sized sub-element of a major project.
  • Maintain above schedule and report any variances or issues related to them.
  • Support Lead Planning Engineer / Management Team with any contract specific reporting or tasks.

Responsibilites

  • To read, understand and implement the Company Safety Policy and the arrangements described in the Company and area Safety Management System documents in relation to the Planning function.
  • To promote good working relations within the Project Controls Teams and other project departments and client representatives.
  • To carry out all works in compliance with Corporate and Project specific procedures.
  • To be fully conversant with Integrated Delivery Modules (IDM) suite of applications (P6, CTRm, JCm, OTL).
  • To prepare resourced schedules, for either a medium to large sized project or a medium to large sub-element of a major project ensuring the items below are covered:
  • To develop the plan based on CTR's and Job cards as well as information from the project team.
  • To code activities and apply logic links to enable schedule time analysis.
  • To baseline Schedule once agreed, with the Project Management Team.
  • To maintain schedules with updates from CTRm and JCm.
  • To review baseline dates versus actual dates in the plan.
  • To monitor and report planned / actual / and earned man hours.
  • To monitor and report planned and actual progress.
  • To liaise with Engineering / Construction Disciplines to ensure accuracy of progress and forecast dates. Attend on / offshore planning review meetings as appropriate.
  • To liaise with the project team and planners to resolve conflicts.
  • To ensure the requisite quality of data is maintained.
  • To ensure the timely issue of accurate, updated plans and associated documents at the agreed intervals.
  • To report risks/changes against schedules to the Project Lead Planning Engineer, Project Engineer and Construction Engineer in a timely and concise manner.
  • To lead any schedule risk sessions in conjunction with the Risk Manager.
  • To supervise, guide and advise the more junior members of the planning team on planning issues.
  • To check all reports (Including S-Curves, Histograms, Tabular Reports and Schedules) generated by the Trainee Planner or equivalent and report any issues.
  • To ensure that the required planning data is available to the business for contract planning (in conjunction with the planning lead).
  • Where appropriate to carry out Personal Development Reviews for relevant staff members.
  • To interface daily with the Projects Controls Team.
  • To interface daily with the Project Team.

Qualifications

Essential:

  • HNC or equivalent
  • Primavera P6 102
  • Primavera P6 106

Desirable:

  • Degree
  • Level 3 QCF in Planning /Project Controls

Experience

Essential:

  • Previous Planning experience, responsible for a large sized project or large sized sub-element of a major project.
  • Specialist knowledge in project control systems (Primavera P6)
  • Ability to control, direct, supervise and manage the day to day activities of a planning team
  • Capable of leading teams
  • Ability to carry out performance reviews and appraisals with project controls personnel

Desirable:

  • Extensive working knowledge of the offshore oil and gas industry or downstream petrochemical industry
  • Knowledge of various electronic project control applications
  • Experience of guiding and advising the more junior members of the planning team on planning issues.
  • Experienced in writing and maintaining of departmental procedures
