Job Description

Primat recruitment is seeking a Mechanical/ Layout Designer to join a large international team in Stockton-On-Tees. Our client is expanding its minerals business internationally. The company provides engineering and construction services to the minerals industry, specifically focusing on continental & eastern Europe, Scandinavia, Africa and Russia.

This position is office based and is supporting the design of a project taking place in the North East. Design responsibilities are split between a location in Teesside and a location in India, so frequent liaising between the teams will be part of your role.

To oversee the layout and design of mineral processing, metallurgical and hydro-metallurgical processing facilities and materials handling facilities for studies and engineering contracts.

Your role will involve developing layouts and designs for the full range of projects from scoping study through to engineering contracts using information provided by the process department in the form of data sheets, process design basis and flowsheets.

The ability to both understand and develop basic process information into both conceptual and final design plant layouts is paramount in achieving the job requirement.

An understanding of the mechanisms that ensure safety in design is of utmost importance, together with related engineering legislation e.g. CDM, Machinery, Directive, CE Marking, DSEAR, ATEX.

Essential:

- HNC in mechanical or mineral engineering is essential however a degree in mechanical engineering would be an asset.

- Experience in the design and layout of mineral processing plants from run of mine ore receipt to final product storage handling.

- Understanding and knowledge in some or all of the following process areas is required:

  • Crushing/Screening.
  • Stockpiling.
  • Material Handling.
  • Products Storage Handling.
