Job Description

WorleyParsons is looking to recruit an HR Advisor, based in Darlington, on a fixed term 12 month role.

Role Overview

Provide an integrated HR service aligned to achieving business objectives while effectively representing the HR function and WorleyParsons values. Areas of responsibility will extend across UK and international work locations. Contribute to and support the business unit and HR function, as an integral member of each, in the achievement of objectives linked to business strategy, growth and development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide a comprehensive and professional customer-focused service in support of the HR Manager and in line with best practice that delivers requirements on time through effective, clear and concise communication and awareness of business and management needs
  • Facilitate and support project integration for personnel who are new to the project/function through effective induction and support to both the team and to the individual in order that they can quickly deliver on business requirements and add value in the role.
  • Support and manage termination and redundancy situations via effective manpower planning through gaining information from and working closely with the project and function. Facilitate this in line with best practice and legislation in order to effectively manage personnel through this process while supporting line management and recognising business needs.
  • Facilitate effective and quick engagement of all new personnel into the business and through transfers onto new projects through effective open and honest two-way communication in order that client and business requirements are satisfied through value adding delivery and effective induction.
  • Initiate and facilitate absence management with relevant line management in order that personnel return to work as quickly as possible or support the individual to exit the business as appropriate Manage and support business in redundancy, grievance and discipline investigations, hearings and appeals in order to minimise risk to the business via provision of pragmatic advice and support which satisfies appropriate legislation and business requirements while recognising best practice.
  • Lead and support the development and integration of robust performance management systems with the purpose of providing the business with the tools, advice and support required to manage and retain a high calibre team of core and ad hoc personnel who satisfy the needs of the business and its planned growth.
  • Take responsibility for assisting management with reviewing the performance of their team.
  • Facilitate interim review of terms and conditions in a timely manner while supporting and encouraging managers to consider value added by their teams in order that WorleyParsons retains and develops talent towards meeting business objectives.
  • Contribute HR sections of bid documents which satisfy best practice and legal requirements and which are aligned to client needs and which are in line with WorleyParsons growth strategy.
  • Support the HR team in responsibilities and projects as directed, providing focal point in the absence of HR Manager leads and management in order to provide a streamlined service to the business and maintain the profile and standards of the HR function.
  • Participate in offshore visits where required in order to represent the HR function and WorleyParsons, providing a united message offshore with the client as required, in order to establish and maintain relationships with offshore based personnel and to provide an integrated client facing service.
  • Demonstrate and promote the principles of WorleyParsons Safety Essentials at all times. Lead safety principles within the business, particularly within the HR function and challenge unsafe activities both onshore and offshore.
  • Active participation in the Primary HR Emergency Response rota and responsibilities to ensure duty of care to employees and contractors and efficient delivery of support to WorleyParsons clients in this area.
  • To co-ordinate, in conjunction with the HR Administrator, the transfer of information to the project and ensure that accurate reports are delivered to the projects/HR Function to meet their requirements in a timely manner.
  • Participate in structured recruitment/induction/screening/training and logistics for all core positions ensuring best practice & company policy are applied in order that the required competence is attracted and retained within the business.

  • Support in the management of maternity, paternity and sick absence issues. Attending meetings with a line manager and employee to discuss these issues, and facilitate the correct use of occupational health and absence management ensuring best practice and company policy are adhered to.

  • To provide accurate advice to employees and management on general HR policies/procedures and manage the processes around these policies seeking support from the HR teams as appropriate.

  • To provide accurate advice to employees regarding current employment legislation, in line with guidance from HR Management to ensure minimal risk to the business and best practice.

  • Liaise and work closely with the logistics function, where appropriate, ensuring any offshore issues are picked up and dealt with as quickly and efficiently as possible. Advising HR Manager of any issues which may potentially pose a risk to the business.

  • Liaise closely with the Training Provider and HR Administrator to ensure that any issues or requirements from the project are met as quickly as possible, for both training and medical issues.

  • Provide support to ensure all HR systems are accurately updated and maintained through effective liaison and awareness of personnel movements and changes.

  • Have a robust understanding of the competency assurance system, ensuring that, where required, reports can be produced. Actively seek to improve compliance in this area, by acting as a key interface with the project on competency issues.

  • Maintain a comprehensive knowledge of the available compensation and benefits packages, flexible benefits and pensions package, in order that any employee queries can be dealt with effectively and in line with WorleyParsons policies and processes.

  • Manage headcount and forecasting activities within project, function and client in order to support the business delivery on manpower requirements.

  • Manage in manpower planning and downman activities in line with best practice and legislation in order to minimise potential redundancy, notice, and reputation costs and maximise cost efficiency and skill retention for the business.

  • Assist improved employee performance through support to line management and HR Management in performance related issues that may arise.

  • Facilitate interim review of terms and conditions in a timely manner by supporting and encouraging managers to consider value added by their team in order that WorleyParsons retains and develops talent.

  • Facilitate training and development from PDRs on an ongoing basis through facilitation of regular review of objectives within the business by line management.

  • Utilise and grow relationships within the business in order that HR is considered as adding value to the business.

  • Develop and maintain a strong network with the commercial function in order that HR decisions and activities are based.
