Job Description

Primat is seeking an experienced individual to become Head of Engineering in a permanent role working from either Leeds or Lisburn, UK.
Our client is a successful and ambitious company built around an excellent engineering team involved in the design, development and manufacture of rugged electronics devices and software.
With an international market presence, ambitious plans for continued growth and cutting-edge technologies, our client is at the forefront of their market place.

he Engineering Manager holds a key role in the company, reporting to the CTO with responsibility for all engineering activity across the company.
Due to the nature of the role, the successful candidate must have proven experience of working at a senior level within industry sectors such as space, defence, security or avionics delivering systems encompassing electronics, telecommunications and critical software.
In addition, they will need to have had experience in product design & development, requirements engineering and management, derivation and delivery of acceptance criteria, delivery and review of design specification at functional and physical level and derivation and management to non-functional requirements and design for testability.
The responsibilities of any successful candidate will include but is not limited to:
* Periodic reports to the Senior Management Team (SMT) on the Engineering activities
* Conducting works cost tender vets on new proposals and periodic re-baselining of long running projects.
* Ensuring engineering complies fully with both internal policies, processes, procedures and customer contractual requirements.
* Responsible for implementing the company's technology roadmap and strategy and ensuring that all engineering disciplines contribute to the on-going development of the company technology base and market offerings.
* Be proactive in ensuring both overhead and project budgets are managed professionally, with resource being efficiently managed and organised to meet the businesses wider commitments.
* Manage engineering resource across multiple sites in conjunction with the CTO and HoPO to maximise utilisation.
* Raise risks and issues to both the CTO and HoPO as appropriate and in a timely manner.
* Ensure escalation procedures are followed and ensure that engagement occurs at the appropriate time.
* Support the CTO in raising its professionalism and systems assurance further.
* Act as Chair of the system design gateway reviews and authorising designs to proceed on the maturity cycle.
* Ensure engineering activities are adequately resourced and managed.

Candidates wishing to apply should:
* Be a highly technical engineer with an innovative approach to design
* Have a good working knowledge of electronics
