AES Structural Engineer Graduate

As a WorleyParsons Graduate you will join the Integrated Solutions business, based in Aberdeen, which delivers maintenance, modification, operations, engineering, fabrication, construction, hook-up and commissioning in support of greenfield and brownfield assets globally.

WorleyParsons recognises the importance of continual development, therefore you will join a four year structured programme, designed to provide you with the knowledge, skills and experience required as a Graduate Engineer. You will join the Advanced Engineering Services team and will work as part of a small team of engineers who will challenge and support you throughout your programme. Our structured programme is designed to provide Graduates joining the Engineering function of WorleyParsons with first-hand training and development.

Throughout the development programme, you will assist in the provision of advanced analysis of offshore and onshore structures and pressure retaining equipment in support of new designs, brownfield modifications and re-assessment of existing facilities. We strive to be flexible with areas of specialism and look to provide opportunities for those who wish to broaden their skillset.

You will have the opportunity to develop skills in performing a wide range of analysis and assessments from hydrodynamic, in-place strength and fatigue analyses to accidental fire, explosion and vessel collision assessments using range of advanced analysis software.

Within this role:

  • You will be a Junior Consultant within the Advanced Engineering Services group to assist in the provision of advanced analysis of offshore and onshore structures and pressure retaining equipment in support of new designs, brownfield modifications and re-assessment of existing facilities.
  • Have the opportunity to develop skills in performing a wide range of analyses and assessments from hydrodynamic, in-place strength and fatigue analyses to accidental fire, explosion and vessel collision assessments using range of advanced analysis software.

Qualifications Required

  • Essential - 1st class or 2.1 degree in appropriate subject e.g. Civil / Structural / Mechanical / Aeronautical Engineering, Naval Architecture, Physics
  • Desirable - Master's Degree or PhD

Experience and personal qualities, aptitudes and skills

  • Knowledge of finite element method and its application for structural and hydrodynamic modelling and analysis
  • Knowledge in the use of classic design and assessment methods of fixed and floating structures and / or pressure retaining equipment
  • Awareness of relevant industry codes and standards
  • High level of general PC skills e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Knowledge and basic skills in technical programming e.g. Python, C++ and Fortran
  • Determination to achieve personal objectives and goals
  • Excellent numerical and analytical skills
  • Strong written and spoken communication skills
  • Willingness and desire to learn and develop new and complimentary skills
  • Aptitude to think independently and work as part of a small team
