Job Description

Are you an experienced Finance Manager who is looking for a new opportunity to drive business performance and work as a close Business Partner to the Management Team? Scopus, a subsidiary of WorleyParsons, is currently recruiting a Finance Manager to join our Oil and Gas project delivery operation based in Aberdeen city centre on a full-time, permanent basis. We are looking for someone with previous management experience to manage a small Finance/Commercial Team and help promote the Scopus business.

Primary objective

  • This role is responsible for the financial health of the Scopus business unit.
  • The role will be the Business Partner to Senior Management in making sound business decisions in the long and short term.
  • The role produces financial reports and develops strategies based on market research.
  • The role will also provide support in a broad range of accounting tasks to facilitate the month end and year end financial processes.

Specific Accountabilities

The incumbent will be required to perform the following tasks:

  • Commercial analysis of performance and results
  • Lead accounting team to ensure project invoices are generated monthly
  • Ensure Project reporting alignment with Oracle and other local accounting system
  • Review and analysis of project costs, revenue and work in progress (WIP)
  • Clear understanding of intercompany transactions
  • Liaise with client and project management regarding contractual issues
  • Forecasting and budgeting profitability and cash-flow for the Project
  • Review of Balance Sheet Reconciliations
  • Preparation and review of monthly financial statements
  • Examine financial statements and documents for conformance with accounting requirements and principles
  • Prepare interpretation of accounting results and advise management.
  • Participate in the monthly project financial review to be conducted with the Location Director, Finance Director, and Operations Manager.
  • Assist with the preparation of statutory reports and lodgements

Role Requirements

Essential:

  • Degree qualification with an accounting or finance major
  • Strong managerial experience in a Finance/Commercial Team
  • CPA or CA qualification a plus
  • Experience in a commercial environment
  • Experience with project accounting
  • Ability in understanding lump sum projects and revenue recognition
  • Ability to interpret and apply accounting standards and corporate financial policies
  • Ability to understand the drivers of the business
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Experience with a large ERP environment such as Oracle
  • Superior general ledger reconciliation skills
  • A high level of understanding of the accounts payable and receivable processes
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • A high degree of organisational skills
  • Ability to deal with multiple tasks whilst meeting reporting deadlines
  • Staff supervision and mentoring skills
