Job Description

Amec Foster Wheeler arw currently recruiting for Electrical Fitters to work on substation projects within the UKPN Alliance Project in Central London.

You will have demonstrable experience with working on large scale industrial electrical construction projects and cable containment.

Work Scope

  • To ensure that the performance and availability of substation equipment meets the standards required to achieve safety, production and environmental targets
  • Working within a small team to undertake Fitting projects on new build, refurbishments and extensions of 33kV to 400kV substations


Key aims and objectives

  • All Fitting aspects of Substation work both AIS & GIS - New Builds, Upgrades, Refurbishments, Extensions
  • To execute all activities safely and efficiently to agreed work plans, safety management system requirements and best working practices.


Prime responsibilities and duties

  • Carry out planned maintenance in accordance with the requirements of the planned maintenance system
  • Carrying out unplanned maintenance as required
  • Minimising downtime and contributing to the achievement of production targets
  • Work-place inspections
  • Fitting & erection of busbars & connectors
  • Installation of HV Switchgear: 33kv through to 400kv
  • Multicore cabling
  • Setting of disconnectors/earth switches & Pantographs
  • Erection of steelwork for all HV Equipment
  • Above and below ground Earthing

Qualifications/Training

Essential:

  • Demonstrable experience post electrical apprenticeship/training, with current relevant experience in all aspects of electrical installation, isolation, reinstatement and testing associated with Industrial electrical work
  • Recognised Electrical Apprenticeship
  • Technical qualifications with applicable electrical background - City and Guilds / NVQ Level 3 / SJIB / JIB
  • First Aid
  • Medical
  • Interview acceptance

Desirable:

  • BESC or WI-1
  • IPAF - MEWP License
  • Telehandler ticket
