Job Description

Primat is currently recruiting for an Electrification Supervisor in Birmingham. This opportunity is on a contract basis to start imminently at our client's site.

We're looking for an Electrification Supervisor to lead and direct our client's DC electrification construction activities, ensuring timely completion of the work, whilst maintaining the integrity and security of all relevant equipment. You will be responsible for confirming that that the discipline design and installation complies with all applicable standards, legislation, contract requirements and specifications.

We're looking for someone with good communication skills as the role requires liaison with the Electrification Engineer, Electrification Manager, the design & construction team and subcontractors to ensure that all construction related issues are resolved in a timely and cost effective manner.

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead coordination and completion of detailed design by specialist contractors from information supplied including high and low voltage, communications and signalling for both tram and highway systems.
  • Manage installation and testing of works.
  • Produce inspection and test plans for electrical works.
  • Act as authorised person for purposes of isolating, testing, removal, installation and energising electrical and related systems.
  • Produce and manage safe systems of work for works to existing and new electrical systems.
  • Provide support to the Electrification Engineer / Manager of budgeting, profit and loss and reporting.

Qualifications, certifications and experience:

  • Electrically biased qualifications such as City & Guilds or NVQ or equivalent Rail industry experience.
  • Ideally holds PTS, COSS/IWA competencies.
  • Proven experience of team leadership and influencing staff.
  • Previous experience of DC electrification construction activities with a thorough working knowledge of Network Rail standards.
  • Proven experience of delivering renewals and projects to the agreed timescales.
  • Understanding of all other rail disciplines and interfaces.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Good level of IT skills.
  • Ability to work as a team.
