Job Description

Primat recruitment is seeking an E I & C Designer to join a large international team in Stockton-On-Tees. Our client is expanding its minerals business internationally. The company provides engineering and construction services to the minerals industry, specifically focusing on continental & eastern Europe, Scandinavia, Africa and Russia.

This position is office based and is supporting the development of the E I & C data package and associated documentation.

Your duties will include but not be limited to:

  • Produce CAD drawings.
  • You will manage the SmartPlant Instrumentation (SPI) database within the Stockton office. Review the SPI deliverables completed within Kolkata and make any modifications to the detailed engineering as necessary.
  • Update instrument data sheets, schedules & loop diagrams.
  • Produce routing drawings within SmartPlant 3D.
  • Produce termination diagrams.
  • Develop cable block diagrams and layout drawings.
  • Plan and prioritise own work to ensure that functional project requirements on scope, time and cost are met.
  • Carry out design activities and calculations, including the production of 2D and 3D CAD drawings, schedules, other documents, manhour estimates for CAD work, interpreting clients' technical specifications and other related activities, to meet project requirements.
  • Check work of more junior engineers, to deliver a quality technical input to projects.
  • Ensure that work complies with all necessary corporate, departmental and legislative requirements and procedures, to guarantee that the necessary consistency and quality of delivery is maintained.
  • Develop own engineering experience and skills, moving towards the capability to move to a more senior role and towards professional qualification.

Essential:

  • An HNC in Electrical or Instrumentation or Mineral Engineering is essential however a degree in a relevant engineering discipline would be an asset.
  • Experience in the design and layout of mineral processing plants from run of mine ore receipt to final product storage and handling.
  • Substantial relevant engineering experience with a minimum of typically 5 years' experience in the design of mineral processing, materials handling facilities or hydrometallurgical ore processing facilities, preferably in uranium, gold, base metals, potash or iron ore processing. This could include time in an engineering organisation or in an operations environment.
  • Excellent knowledge and efficient use of 2D AutoCAD is essential, ideally the candidate should also be proficient in the use of 3D modelling, specifically SmartPlant 3D.
  • Good knowledge of SPI.
  • Good knowledge of MS Office software.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.

Although the position is primarily based in the Stockton office, mobility & flexibility to travel and work away from the home office base will be required.
