Job Description

Primat Recruitment is seeking a Civil & Structural Designer to join a large international team in Stockton-On-Tees. Our client is expanding its minerals business internationally. The company provides engineering and construction services to the minerals industry, specifically focusing on continental & eastern Europe, Scandinavia, Africa and Russia.


This position is office based and is supporting the design of a project taking place in the North East of England. Design responsibilities are split between Teesside and India, so frequent liaising between the teams will be part of your role.


The Civil, Structural and Architectural department requires a Senior Civil / Structural Designer to join the project design team required to operate within a multidiscipline environment.

Role requirements and responsibilities:
* Responsible for the production of technical deliverables, in their assigned area of responsibility in accordance with the control estimate and specific requirements of the project schedule.
* Ensure that the Project's Execution documentation requirements are followed, considering any special contractual requirements.
* Production of 3D models using software as required by the project and ensuring adequate discipline interaction is undertaken to support this.
* Produce steelwork detail/arrangement drawings and concrete arrangement/RC detail drawings to standard applicable for project phase and to assume technical responsibility for production of these deliverables to ensure the required safety and quality standards.
* Have a practical approach to problems and situations if they occur.
* Incorporation of constructability and buildability in designs.
* Provide the lead engineer with information to update manhour and progress measurement reports, in time to support weekly/monthly reports for clients.
* Maintain a pro-active, positive approach to project team communication, particularly in design and 3D model review activities.
* Ensure timely completion of all project drawings and other deliverables within area of own responsibility.
* Ensure all documentation within the scope of responsibility is checked, reviewed and approved in accordance with the Company SOP requirements for that project.
* Proactively interact with workshare/ remote team counterparts. To take the lead in discussion and resolution of related issues.

Essentials skills and attributes:
* Strong communication skills to enable effective liaison, both inside the project and externally.
* Experience of working within medium- large scope mining / industrial projects within a multidiscipline environment.
* Extensive experience in the use of AutoCAD to produce drawings from layouts and engineers' sketches.
* 3D modelling experience
* Knowledge of UK and European standards and practices.
* Knowledge of applicable health and safety legislation including CDM.
* Ability to work in a multi-Discipline team and engage in collaborative behaviour that ensures the success of all Disciplines and the Project as a whole.
* Self-motivated and ability to work to own initiative when required.
Ideally, candidates will also have the following experience:
* Experience of MultiSUITE (MultiSTEEL and MultiREBAR) module within AutoCAD
* Experience using Smart Plant 3D modelling software (training to be provide for the right candidate)
* Good knowledge of Microsoft Office software

Qualifications and Software:

You must have extensive experience of AutoCAD to produce drawings from layouts and engineers sketches, particularly the use of MultiSUITE which forms part of the AutoCAD package. The role will involve 3D Modelling so experience with modelling software is required.
