Description:
Primat Recruitment, an expanding resourcing company within the AMEC Group, is seeking a NR Senior Mechanical HVAC Designer (6328) Purpose / Role Undertake detail design surveys, prepare drawings and material take off’s. Undertake basic system resistance and weight control calculations. Check vendor drawings. The Senior Designer will have additional responsibility for checking and maintaining drawing standards. Prime responsibilities and duties Carry out work in accordance with AMEC and project Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality systems. Prepare drawings using Intergraph Microstation, PDMS and AutoCAD programmes. Complete materials take off’s from drawings. Undertake simple system resistance and weight control calculations. Liaise with other design disciplines as to location of plant and ducting. Liaise with other disciplines in order to avoid clashes and follow project procedures to resolve them. Originate data sheets. Originate ‘standard’ and bulk requisitions. Undertake survey scopes offshore, prepare survey reports. Ensure that designs comply with the relevant procedures and regulations. Achieve safety standards as required by the company and individual safety contracts. Allied occasional duties Achieve safety standards as required by the company and individual safety contracts. Qualifications/Training Essential: ONC or equivalent in appropriate engineering subject Desirable: HNC or equivalent in appropriate engineering subject Experience Essential: Will require Microstation for preparation of D&IDs and PDMS experience for preparation of general arrangements. Experienced designer with sound technical background and strong knowledge of manual and CAD draughting techniques Conversant with codes of practice, standards and relevant sections of statutory documentation applicable to draughting function Conversant with company quality control assurance requirements applicable to draughting function Able to create base design drawings / models from agreed workscope with minimal input from engineering personnel Ability to accept delegated responsibility and control budgets for delegated tasks Computer literate (database / spreadsheets) Able to provide draughting checking function as directed by lead designer Desirable: Capable of directing activities and motivating junior members of design team Able to communicate clearly with engineering personnel Able to contribute to group / discipline objectives applicable to draughting function Able to identify improvement opportunities and techniques relevant to draughting personnel We are committed to the principle of equal opportunities and we wish to attract candidates with the relevant experience
